Kaitlyn + Zach | Gorgeous Winter Engagement Session at Vanderbilt

February 17, 2020

Engagements

Kaitlyn and Zach are two of the sweetest people we’ve ever met. They’re high school sweethearts who’ve lived so much life together over the last 8 years. After a romantic engagement in Italy, they are having a winter wedding at the end of 2020.

It only made sense that they were all about braving the unpredictable Tennessee weather and went for a winter time engagement session. It was chilly, but you would never know because they totally rocked it!! Kaitlyn had total Meghan Markle vibes going with her all black outfit topped with the cutest long peacoat.

Sometimes winter engagement sessions get a bad rap, but I wanted to share why they’re awesome. And prove it by showing you how amazing their photos turned out, even though nearly everything around us was dead. If you do go engagement photos in the winter, we have just a few tips to share to make the best of it!

1. Pick an urban location. We can’t fix the dead trees or the yellow grass. Pick a location that still looks alive and beautiful in the winter! College campuses or downtown areas make for the perfect winter engagement session location.

2. Dress to the weather. Bring out that fur coat you only put on for fancy occasions or wear your fave winter boots. Have fun with a winter engagement session and dress for warmth. It’ll make the whole experience way more enjoyable. I love that Kaitlyn wore her peacoat the entire session, and it totally worked.

3. Grab a drink beforehand. Best way to warm up those winter blues is with your faveĀ cocktail or beer. Alcohol helps with nerves too šŸ˜‰

Now see for yourself just how beautiful photos in the winter can be!
